OUR STORY
Faroe Time
Niels qualified as an optician in 1991, and a talent for handcrafting runs in his family. His grandfather was an excellent goldsmith and watchmaker as well as an owner of a jewellery and watch shop in Tórshavn. In 2008 Niels and his wife, Nomi, opened their own jewellery and watch shop and optical practice.
Therefore, it is probably no coincidence, that Niels ventured into his own watch adventure. -It’s been a dream of mine for many years, Niels says, and in 2020 the first designs for the Faroe Time watch were made. Niels draws everything by hand first, and the process between drawing, tweaking and redrawing goes back and forth, until it is ready to be drawn on a software program.
Niels’ wife, Nomi, plays a small but significant part in the creative process. Her extensive knowledge and experience in the jewellery and watch business is beneficial for the decision making on colours, straps and displays.
Niels likes to think about every detail and therefore a lot of thought and work goes into the designing of every watch. The quality is of utmost importance, which is why all of the watches have Swiss-made movements, sapphire glass and are made in Germany and Switzerland.
